Dear Friends on Trinity;s Thursday Thoughts list

I wanted you to be aware of this event tomorrow night.  Sad that we have to meet like this, but it is also important that we gather - not just to remember those affected, those who died and those who are wounded.  For me it's important to be there to show solidarity and commitment to do what we can to speak out again such violence and hatred.

In the peace and hope of Christ,

Vigil and March in Honor of Pulse Nightclub shooting victims

Lincoln Park-East 4th and Franklin-Waterloo

Wednesday, June 15th 6pm

As we celebrate LGBT pride month around the world we are horrified to learn of the deadly shooting to take place at the PULSE Nightclub in Orlando Florida. We call for an end to gun violence, homophobia and transphobia. With over 50 dead and 52 wounded this is now the largest mass shooting in U.S History.

Join us on Wednesday June 15th for a peace vigil in Lincoln Park (East 4th and Franklin, Waterloo) as we honor the many lives lost in this tragic shooting. Following the hour long vigil we will embark on a march down 4th to Kings and Queens Club (304 West 4th St, Waterloo) where we will hold a toast to a future free from hatred and violence.

“My heart is full of sadness and rage that as people gathered to Celebrate LGBT pride month they were sent to their death by a lone gunman who hated them because of who they love. We cannot remain silent in the wake of such a hateful violence; we as Americans must own our problem with gun violence. It is time for policy makers of all stripes to stop with the excuses and start taking meaningful action.” –Chris Schwartz, Organizer for Americans for Democratic Action
