Our Clergy

Rev. Maureen Doherty, Interim Priest

A little about Maureen!

I came in July of 2002 to Waverly, Iowa, to serve at St. Andrew's. My interests have always been in Campus Ministry and community outreach. Taking the pulse of what needs exist in the community and matching them with the strengths and assets of the parish community opens many doors and relationships. I believe that the Church and the community should walk hand in hand to serve those most in need. My mission interests take me more outside of the church doors than being a priest "at church."

My work hours demonstrate that. My days begin working for New City Ministries in NE Waterloo. New City advocates for justice, liberation, and equality for all; it has been in Waterloo for over forty years. . .still advocating.  I spend part of my work day as Episcopal Chaplain at UNI.  My main focus on campus is involving students in social justice awareness and outreach; we partner in our ministry with the United Methodists. And then there is Trinity. I am delighted to be here and making this faith community part of my life as the parish searches for their new priest.

My spouse, Joan, and I live in Cedar Falls, and we enjoy gardening and long walks.  I generally have 2-3 books in process, and I love a night at the theater or symphony.  I enjoy watching pro football (go Bengals!) and UNI sports. My favorite musician is my son, Kevin, and his well-known band (well at least in New Mexico and the Denver area), The Saltine Ramblers. Joan and I are both from big families and family events matter big time.

I look forward to the weeks or months ahead as I journey with Trinity and welcome ideas that will add possible paths to our journey!

Rev. Chuck Lane, Deacon

I have been a member of Trinity since 1972, except for the 3 years I moved away when working for Goodyear Tire Company. I kept my membership at Trinity those 3 years. I have been a deacon at Trinity since October 6, 1995. My ministry experience started in 1961, while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in Okinawa. I was fortunate to work with those on the island who had no voice and to work with The Right Rev. Ed Browning. My ministry has been working in youth, prison and jail ministry; working in the inner city with different cultures, social justices; and being a advocate for those less fortunate. My experience is taking the time to learn and listen to people of a different culture and to listen to the stories of those who don't have a voice in the community. I enjoy going on mission trips. My hours vary but are usually 10am-2pm Monday-Friday and always Sunday and any special occasion that might come up. My interest is coaching sports, especially football. At the present, I am a varsity football coach at East High School in Waterloo. I help coach the defense backs. My hobbies are reading books about different cultures and watching how people of different cultures interact with each other in communities.
